Just so you know. :)
Check back tomorrow, I will have this week's up for show... :)
(Ha, that shit rhymed!)
Moving on.
This past weekend the weather was GORGEOUS! I really wanted to get out of the house and get some exercise; so I went for a 3 mile hike at my favorite place.
Remember the Toot-Trail?
Ah the memories.
After I finished my hike, the kids and hubby show up and Buggy decides she wants to get some exercise too. We set off on the 3 mile trail together. What's another 3 miles, right? No problem. The alone time with her was great for me, plus, it gave me an great opportunity to talk to her about what is going on at home.
Her reaction was NOTHING like I expected it to be.
Her first question was, "won't you be lonely?" (sweet)
Followed by, "where will we live and are all my toys coming with me?" (giggle)
She also was concerned with how she was now going to divide her time between HER father, HER stepdad and ME. She sighed heavily, "that is going to be hard!"
She wondered if I would remarry (hell no!) if her stepdad would remarry (who cares!) and how her brother was going to handle it all.
Will she have to leave her school?
Her friends?
It really threw me back to how kids think, they DON'T think like adults do.
It was such a relief to finally tell her and to have her react better than I expected. Even though I don't have answers to her concerns, I can only tell her I love her, that I will be there for her and that NO MATTER WHAT, when we stick together we will get through it. All of it.
One talk down...
Awww...what a sweet kiddo! Glad you got that talk out of the way. And you will get through it. All of it.
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest and say I was a little shocked you won't remarry again. Are you giving up on men or just marriage?
ReplyDeleteShe is very adaptable - you must be proud. What a relief to finally have that over with!
ReplyDeleteWhat's next? The birds and the bees? :)
I'm glad she took it well.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I'll get married one more time but there won't be a third.
What a wonderful reaction. I mean, I know she has concerns but they are all ones that you can deal with together.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the next talk!
Oh I'm so glad it went well!!! I needed some 'positiveness' today and this was a good one! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you. That is suchd a difficult conversation to have. It sounds like you handled it perfectly. Just keep talking to her. Make sure you find answer to her questions.
ReplyDeleteMuwaaah!
Sassy
It's good that you got some personal talking time in. As long as she knows your willing to talk to her about anything, it's a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeletewhat a great kid you have. sounds like she is very caring. glad you got the alone time with her!
