How can this be Wordless?

3rd grader

I've thought about being lazy today and just posting the Wordless Wednesday, cop out, but how can this be Wordless?

My beautiful, beautiful daughter. Entering the third grade, but acting like she's in tenth, yet so lovingly attached to a stuff animal like a kindergartener (seen in family picture).

(That's not nice)

She and I argued this morning, on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! On the day she was sooo excited to see on our doorstep all over the stuff animal. By the time she got to school though her smile was beaming as usual and the left home stuffed animal was long forgotten.

She is such a smart girl and she loves school. I'm going to savor that because I fear that it will change in the next few years.

first day kindergarten

My "baby" is old enough to go to school. I am old enough to have two children in elementary school.

*picks self up off of the floor*

How did five years go by so quickly?

I fear this boy's charm and spunk will blow his lovely teacher away. Kindergarten teachers are so cute aren't they? Is that a prerequisite?

He has two buddies from preschool/daycare in his class. These three boys have been known to stir up trouble amongst them. I am really tempted to contact the teacher to give her a heads up. There's only so much his cute little dimples will get him out of in elementary school.

My family Aug09

My family, this is us, this is JUST US. When we are settled (hopefully) in our new house, this picture is going to be blown up and displayed proudly on our wall. It is us, just us, from beginning to end. These kids can put a smile on my face, these kids can make my face grimace, but they are mine, they are me and I love them (even if they are getting old).

  1. Perfect picture at the end of this post of you and your kids! You are a mother forever and I totally felt that, regardless of them "growing up." Best of luck to the kids for a great school year! Happy WW!

  7. That is the perfect family picture. You all three look beautiful and/or handsome (whatever is appropriate). And I know you don't want to do this, but your kids are so big. The only reason I say this is because I have one going to kindergarten next year. What happens to them to make them look so much older in just one year?! It hurts my heart to think my baby will grow up that much in the next year.

Your daughter may always love school. Girls often do. Boys, not so much. My daughter is in college and still loves learning.

  22. Great post and photo. When a friend of mine got a divorce, she called herself and her two kids the "Thriving three". Somehow, that seems very appropriate to you and your two. You all look so happy.
