He's in the WIIINNNDOOOOWWW....

My Bubba, is a chicken.

I feel bad for him, but it's getting really serious.

He won't go into a room by himself, he won't be left alone in a room.

It doesn't help that the two kids find it HILARIOUS to wait around corners for each other or me to try to scare the crap out of each other.

I had to have a talk with Buggy about it the other morning, in front of Bubba, only to have Bubba stand outside of the bathroom door waiting for me to open it so he could yell "boo!"

*sigh*

Last night the Disney channel had a movie on, can't remember the name of it now.

"Oh! a Halloween movie," I thought, "I bet Buggy would get a kick out of this." I hit record on the dvr and Bubba and I started to watch the movie.

How bad could it be, right? It's the Disney channel.

Big MISTAKE.

The "ghost" on the movie was down right scary. The last straw was when the ghost peeked into the window. Bubba looked up me, pale faced, tears welding up in his eyes.

"I don't like scary movies," he screeched. "Turn it off!"

I did. Quickly.

*I'm such an idiot sometimes*

Later on he was in the shower, I left the bathroom to get him some toys only to hear minutes after I closed the door, this moaning, this ungodly scared crying.

I run back into the bathroom thinking the water has turned scorching hot on him or something really terrible. To find Bubba plastered up against the shower wall, shaking with fear. His eyes again filled with tears as he peered up at the window in the shower.

"Mooom," he cried, "is that ghost in OUR WIIIINNNDOOOOOWWW?"

Then he gets pissed, because *I* made him watch a scary movie.

His breathing was labored, he freaked if I even shut the curtain to the shower and he couldn't see my face. I tried explaining that ghost and monsters were not real and that it was all pretend. I tried explaining that he was safe in our home that there were no bad guys hiding in the corners or peeking in the windows.

For some reason he wouldn't let it go, he just wanted to see my face. I can't imagine why he's scared or how MY face could calm him...

spooky me..
(ha, had some fun with the editing tools in www.picnik.com)

((seriously, here's the name of the movie, do not watch if you have easily scared children, Mostly Ghostly, Who let the Ghost Out? Not cool, Disney channel, not cool at all.))

23 Sharing the Madness:

  1. I love the edits. The background ghosts are especially creepy.

My Baby Girl is scared all the time to. She won't play in her room unless her 18month old brother goes with her. I'm not sure exactly how he is supposed to help. I guess she'll throw him to the monster when it busts in the room.

  4. I like the makeup, you should go out on the town like that. You may experience an unusual night, find people act funny around you and end up all alone at the bar but...

  5. My kids watched that last night! My son is the same way. It's always..I"m scared Mommy. He sleeps with every light on and every door open.

  6. My daughter is scared at night. It is killing me lately. I am constantly scaring monsters away. It all started with that stupid freaking movie "Monsters Inc" I am an idiot for letting her watch it.

  8. Sam is a total wuss sometimes. Won't go to a different area of the house unless it's all lit up. Yet he also completely enjoys scaring the crap out of me. I hate it! Especially when he startles me and it makes me spill my wine.

LOVE the picture! I messed around with a picture oh Sam. It's cute, but yours is great!

  9. Stacie, Stacie, Stacie--Just because "Disney" is plastered all over something doesn't mean it is good or nice or a money-maker. People make the mistake that all is good with "Disney"--not so. Nice, traumatizing the kid. Poor child. May you be forced to watch Hannah Montana on an endless loop for your punishment.

  11. Poor Fellow!! I was exactly like that as a kid. I used to make my little sister take a shower with me.

Wait... that doesn't sound as innocent as it really was...

  12. Hilarious picture...
I long for the days where the Treehouse channel was still a favorite, now it's teletoon and disney....The Adams family movie freaked Cole out...
It'll pass I'm sure...if not, you will always be there to comfort him!

  13. You look lovely! My hubby still talks to this day about how scary the Wizard of Oz was to him as a kid. When you think about it, Disney does have a lot of dark characters in some of their cartoons. I never liked Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

  14. Awww, poor Buggy! I remember when my kids would get scared of movies like that. Now they are older, and I'm scared of their movies! Love the picture edit. Too funny:-D

  15. Oh hell! I still have times when I am scared...in my own home! I make sure all the curtains are closed so that no one can peek in, and I leave lights on when my daughters are gone for the night...geez, I will never grow out of that!

  16. Oh poor kid. He'll grow out of that in about a minute though.
Hey that picture made me jump out of my skin. Thanks Stacie I'll have nightmares tonight!

  17. LOL! Love the picture edits!

Princess Nagger fluctuates between being scared and/or not wanting to be in a room all by herself. Usually the 'clinging' mode happens when she's really tired, and it's easier for her to keep herself awake if she has an audience. ;)

  18. In a few short months, you will both look back on this and laugh... that's what I am hoping for you, anyway.

  19. You did a good editing job. I love it!

  20. my youngest is a very scared kid- with a recurring nightmare about this horrible man with red eyes and a cape...anywho, while he's over it for the most part, I've noticed whenever I go in their bathroom, the shower curtain is open...just clicked about 2 months ago that he's deliberately leaving it open.
I'm the same way though, so what can i do?

  21. Poor Bubba. I hope he can settle down and relex soon. Thing2 went through a phase like that after watching a Goose Bumps movie.

  22. poor guy. but if it's any consolation to you...i'm having the same problem here with my 11 year old daughter. if i tell her to go upstairs, she starts to cry that she's scared. she is scared to be in the bathroom by herself. it's out of hand. and quite ridiculous. the only solution? give them away. yep. that's right. rid them.
    what? is that bad?

C'mon, pull up a therapy couch and tell me all about it...
