I got a rock.

I got a call from family members of Ex#2. Some of my favorite family members of his family.

"Can we take the kids to this pumpkin thing?" they asked.

"Sure, can I go too?"

"If you want to."

So we loaded up the kids and a couple nephews and made the drive 20 minutes or so to the "pumpkin thing".

Let's just say, although it was really cool, it wasn't what we had THOUGHT it was going to be.

Our thoughts were a farm, with big pumpkins and displays. When we turned down the road of a pretty populated street, we were wrong.

There were pumpkins, big pumpkins and a display.

"Whoa, we drove for this? Where's the hot cocoa, where's the hay ride?" we giggled.

"I thought we were going to a pumpkin patch." The kids said as they piled out of the van.

So it wasn't what we were expecting, but all that said, it was neat...for about five minutes.

I now present, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, on a front lawn in a neighborhood near me.

Well, maybe next year...

We all decided on the way home that we are spoiled ungrateful brats to have expected something more than what this was, after all, wasn't a pumpkin over 1000 lbs enough? Wasn't the time this person spent growing and beautifully carving these pumpkins enough? We wanted more?

We're assholes.

Though we all felt a little like Charlie Brown felt when he looked in his bag to only find rocks,

Kids said, they want to make a tradition of this journey. All's not lost.

  2. Ok those were cool. They remind me of this house we use to live by, every halloween they would fill their front window with all these carved pumpkins that were amazing.

  9. That is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. That wasn't very nice to say was it.

  10. Wellllll, I guess it was low-key and all, but I don't want to say boring. Okay, so that did take a whole lotta time and talent, but I think the pictures were just fine for me. Thanks for taking me for the "ride" and sparing me the actual event, Stacie.

  11. Hahaha sounds like us last year- we went to a farm and it sucked hard. The prices they wanted and it supposedly included a pumpkin to take home and carve so (natch the 10 bucks a pop for Ian is worth it right?) They only had those teeny tiny ones that we think of as gourds the kind you throw at your brothers head. The decent ones you had to pay extra for. *rolls eyes*
I am an ungrateful spoiled brat too. :P

  13. well, those pumpkins look pretty cool but i can see how you'd be disappointed after a 20 minute drive. i'd be a little pissed.

i wonder if the neighbors think it's cool or if they dread that shit every year...

  14. I'm sure that it's wasn't what you planned. But I have to tell you that the pictures make me sad that I didn't go along. Next year!

  17. How cool, but I can see how kids could get bored quickly. That had to be expensive to get all those pumpkins!

  18. Look at that talent! those pumpkins are HUGE!

  19. I've not seen so many intricate carvings or so many huge pumpkins. Pretty neat to me.

  20. The kids did look a little bored. I am sure their neighbors love all the traffic to see 947 lbs of pumpkins. LOL. NOT!

  21. That looked like it was worth the drive. I'd have gone. Well maybe I am boring then. My kids still what to light our pumpkins so I think they'd have liked that display. Regardless, somebody went to some serious effort there.

  22. Awesome pics...I am always amazed at how intricate some people can carve their pumpkins. I gave up trying years ago...
    Thanks for sharing.

  23. Yay! So you're not all assholes. Until next year at least :)

  24. Sheesh! What did you want? The pumpkins to up and dance for you? Throw candy in your direction and laugh as it beaned you in the head?
That person has FAR too much time on their hands. But it looks cool.
