Things I learned cooking my very own Thanksgiving dinner...all by myself.
1) My oven SUCKS...it's so small (that's what she said)
I could barely fit the one turkey breast in there, then I had to rotate out the side dishes as they cooked. The second turkey breast had to sit on the stove until everything else was done.
2) If you're lazy too busy to make your own pies, Sara Lee rocks...except, don't let it thaw in the fridge and if you're going to let it thaw, make sure it's on something level.
Or your pie will have no yummy pie filling left in it...cause it will have run out all over your fridge. Just sayin...
3) Cooking for just you and your children proves to be perfect because you can make the dishes as YOU like them (and your kids as well)...my sweet potatoes were AWESOME and pretty to boot.
4) Even though you aren't surrounded by the chaos of big family noise, you can still enjoy a fantastic Turkey dinner...little candle light, plastic plates (cause the real ones are still packed awaiting a new remodeled kitchen with bigger oven), Christmas movies on the tv...and the best part...just us.
In the end, it works out. If you put in the effort, put in the love and most of all keep your chin up. It all works out. It might even surprise you.

What, no jokes about somebody "stuffing the turkey"? Hahahaha
That is awesome that you cooked and all thruned out well. BTW - thos sweet potatoes look dam tasty. YUMMY!
Also I love the plastic plates. LOL.
Oh the potatoes look so delish and I agree with you, even if in the end i'm the one eating by myself after trying to burn a kitchen down.
A full pouch makes for a big smile.
Okay, seriously...that pie?? The pumpkin juice poured off!! Sara Lee disappoints me!!
I'm with Lee, why is the pie so runny? I don't know about Sara Lee!
It all looks delish! Glad it turned out for you!
i'm with you 100%. thanksgiving with just me and the kids rocked. no drama...no arguments (well, except for between the kids), and no football. just sayin'
sorry about your pie...;)
Are you really getting your kitchen remodeled?
I've missed you! Sorry I haven't stopped by lately, loving the festive look you have going on here and I can't wait to keep reading and see how that Thanksgiving of yours turned out!
A shame about the pie. Was that uncooked? Everything looks wonderful and I'm sure it was fun.
If you're lucky, when they are old enough, the kids will cook AT THEIR HOUSE and you can bring the sweet potatoes. Happy 1st of Dec!
With the exception of the Pie it sounds like a perfect holiday!!
Looks awesome. And that pie issue would have really upset me. I probably would have had my head stuck in the fridge licking the shelves. Pumpkin is my favorite.
The years it has been the 4 of us have been my favorite. The best part is that I don't have to go crazy cleaning ahead of time. (And I buy my pies from the bakery. Shhh!)
That looks yummy!
That poor pie :(
Nothing beats plastic plates for class and their input to the look and feel of the meal...
I have that oven! Try cooking Thanksgiving dinner for a family of 7 in the sucker! That's why I cook our turkey on the grill.
We just got rid of that 1-chicken-breast-sized oven! Swear! AND, we just unpacked boxes since our seems-like-never-ending kitchen renovations have just been completed... you'll get there. And by the way, your pics are making me CRAVE some leftovers!
I totally agree with number 3 - making dishes the way you like for you and your kids. When my parents eat with us, we have to make very specific dishes that are a tradition for them. And don't taste nearly as good as the stuff we make!
Awesome!!!! Sucks about the oven though. You are getting a new one?
I like your new digs too! I wish Wordpress would let me decorate like you did in here. TOO CUTE! :)
