DO YOU ALL SEE???
Do you see the damn smart kid I am dealing with?
Let me rewind a little bit.
Saturday Buggy and I were outside getting the pool ready to fill. We hear this screaming from the house, an almost panicked scream.
We both looked at each other and continued what we were doing.
Out flies Bubba from the back door, an apple in one hand and his first loose tooth in the other.

"Mom, be honest, is the tooth fairy real or is it just the parents?"
I stood there for what felt like an hour trying to decide how to answer this question.
I am a horrible liar. I am. I never keep the story straight on Santa, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, etc.
"Bubba, do you believe in the tooth fairy or do you think it's the parents?"
"I think it's the parents."
*mumble mumble*
I take a deep breath and give him the same answer I give about Santa.
"If you believe in the tooth fairy then she is real."
I
The next morning he came into my bedroom, money in hand.
"Moooommm, the tooth fairy left me $5!"
"She did???? That is awesome Bubs."
A little later that day he says, "I know it was you Mom."
"What??? What was me???"
"The tooth fairy, I know it was you because one of the dollars had tape on it and the other night when you were collecting money from selling my raffle tickets one of THOSE dollars had tape on them. So I know you put that money under there."
*gulp*
Right? Anyone else have a smart mouth smarty pants six year old? WHO IS FEEDING HIM THIS KNOWLEDGE.
At least this time the Tooth Fairy didn't forget.
Yup...got a couple of those actually LOL I feel like if they are asking, then they already know the truth and it won't hurt for you to tell him. You can still give him money for his teefs..just now you get the credit, not some imaginary fairy:)
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain.
Heh heh. He's definitely on to things now. Next it's "the stork is not really real Mom..." I sorry for you. :(
ReplyDeleteI think Baby Girl kinda figured out Santa this year. Like I could kind of tell by the questions she asked, but she still really wanted to believe so she just chose to on her own.
ReplyDeleteI have no advice. But at least you know you aren't alone.
I think he is at the age when everything gets questioned.
ReplyDeleteaww... it's ok! I think boys figure it out (or cop to it) faster than girls. Girls still want to believe!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful little boy you got there... are boys beautiful? He's adorable!
If I ever have children, I will help perpetuate the Santa myth because let's be honest, you can't deny a child Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBut there will be no toothfairy and no Easter Bunny.
It would be one Epic fail for me, and I am a bad liar.
LOL!!! I haven't been found out yet. It really amazes me because every kid I knew growing up told me about it, my kids? i'm starting to wonder if they know any kids?
ReplyDeleteHe's a detail man. I'm a detail girl I can spot the symptoms...good luck getting ANYTHING past him, or surprising him with anything.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with being detail-oriented! :) Get him some jigsaw and logic puzzles!
that's awesome...lol I used to tell them they were real...because in all honesty i was the tooth fairy, santa, whatever...so it's real...
ReplyDeleteWow! He really is wise beyond his years!!
ReplyDeleteI have a smart mouthed smarty pants 7 year old, I'd like to say it gets better...but...um...well...
