The weekend was great, even though Bubba was grounded.

We set up the little pool that we have.

Burger and Buggy.
*sigh* boys and their hose.

Burger, almost 8 and Buggy, almost 10 really had a great time playing around together with Bubba out of the way. Onion was in a little trouble too and unable to swim. So these two bonded and had a great time creating animal shows (think Shamu) from the pool.

It was a gorgeous day.
We had people over that night, for more swimming and to watch the Blackhawks and UFC fighting. We grilled, we roasted marshmallows, the kids camped outside. It was a good time.
Sunday was HOT HOT HOT. Buggy went with Mr.F's kids to their gramma's pool, Mr.F went golfing, Bubba stayed in his room and I lounged on the couch watching the Indy 500. It was a pretty good day.
Monday, when I decided to let Bubba off of grounding, Mr.F got called into work. I loaded up all the gang in swimsuits and headed back to Mr.F's parent's house for more pool time.
By the time we arrived the full on rain fest started. It rained all day long. As we sat inside with our suits on just waiting for it to clear. It never did.
It still was nice to lay around watching movies.
When I got home, everything that we had left outside was soaked. The windows of the tent had been left open, the pool towels that were hanging to dry, were drenched.
So I picked up what I could from the yard and left the rest out to "dry" the next day (OK two days).
Wednesday morning, 4 am, I was woken from my beauty slumber to a strange whooshing sound. It was lightening pretty badly and down pouring.
"SHIT, the tent!" I thought. I pictured myself looking out the window to see the tent flying towards me.
I didn't see the tent, I rubbed my eyes trying to clear the sleep from them. I squint my eyes to look again.
"FOR THE LOVE OF PETE." I said to no one.
I couldn't see anything but trees. I texted Mr.F..."Shit, power is out, trees down in yard, tent is toast!"
It still was storming pretty badly so I couldn't go out to assess the damage and there was no way I was going back to bed. So I laid on the couch, waiting for daylight to break and when it did, here is what I saw.

See over to the far right? That little bit of green (not grass)? That's the tent, or what's left of it. THANK GOD, no one was sleeping in that tent. Two trees fell right on top of it.

Nipsco was out by 6 am working on the snapped pole, which put about 50 or more homes without power.

Here are the culprits, two trees and a huge branch from a third. You can see the snapped Nipsco pole and the new one they had already installed by lunch time yesterday.
Honestly, I can go on all day about how lucky we are that nothing went through our roof, or anyone's roof. How lucky we are that the downed wires didn't spark any fires, how no one was in that tent. I am very thankful.
Very thankful.
Now though? Clean up. None of this mess is covered with home owner's insurance. The "act of God" clause will keep insurance away for the neighbor's fence. Not only cleaning the trees out of my yard, but continuing the job started by "God" or Mother Nature and removing the now snapped in half trees.
So if you're looking for me this weekend, Mr.F and I will be doing it Paul Bunyan style. (What??)

(Remember back when I bought the house? It had survived the tornado unscathed, and now this storm, please don't let our luck run out or bad to happen in threes here. THANKYOUVERYMUCH)
