This was back in 2009 when we were house searching.

So the other night, the kids and I met the realtor to look at the first house. I knew going in that it was an older home and that the house was going to be too small, but I didn't want to NOT see it.
I give the kids the low down on the expected behavior and what will not be tolerated. Ie; no touching other people's things, all questions will be answered but I needed to give as much attention to viewing the house and listening to the realtor as possible.
Both kids sign off on the rules; we pull up to the house.
Buggy cracks me up!
"Cute! Painting is peeling a little and we know, Mom, that YOU don't want to be painting another house anytime soon." She states from the back seat.
Smart daughter!
When we bought the house we are in now, I knew the minute I entered the house that it would be mine. *evil laugh* So I think I am hoping for that to happen to me again, but on a much smaller budget, 20-30 THOUSAND dollars less budget.
We walk up to the front door, all that ran through my mind is CUTE. It really was/is CUTE.
Buggy calls a room "hers", Bubba discusses the people's furniture and decorations, the realtor and I remain quiet.
It was a small (really small like my king size bed won't even fit in the room that was announced mine by Buggy), older home, lots of charm but also in need of updates.
As we were leaving to view the second house of the night, Buggy offers another (f-ing fantastic) observation.
"Hmmm, ok, sidewalks, nice block to walk and ride bikes."
Man, she's good. I told her so, too.
"Very good observations Buggy!"
She goes on, "One bathroom only ?!?! AAAANNNDDD it's upstairs, so if we are watching TV downstairs in the living room then we'd have to go all the way upstairs to go to the bathroom? Hmmm, yeah, I don't think so Mom. Well, let's keep our fingers crossed for the next house."
Her monologue went without breaths. I am really impressed with her thought process though.
Onto the next house...
stay tuned.
Smart girl. One bathroom upstairs? Nuh uh.
ReplyDeleteI'm always struck that my daughter notices and comprehends more than I realize. Sounds like yours does, too.
